Information about Hidden Valley and the Surrounding Area
Constructed in the early 1970s, Hidden Valley is a condominium complex comprised of 84 individual units and has full amenities, including two roof-covered outdoor Jacuzzis, two saunas, two coin-operated laundry rooms, and one outdoor pool, as well as a full-time property management team that lives onsite. In the late 2000s, the complex underwent a much-needed facelift to brighten it up and make it better fit in with the surrounding buildings in the nearby "Village." During this time, all balconies and walkways were reconstructed and brought up to code. The complex is very well-maintained and quite beautiful, set amongst a variety of pine trees and, from certain vantage points, has tremendous views of the surrounding Sherwin and Sierra Nevada mountains.
The "Village" is located just minutes away by foot, where you can find restaurants and bars, shopping, and a small grocery story that has many essential items. The Minaret Village Shopping Center is located approximately two miles away by car at the east end of town. In that shopping center, you will find a fully-stocked Vons grocery store, as well as a movie theater and additional restaurants. That part of town along Old Mammoth Road also has numerous other shopping and restaurant options, as does much of Main Street.
From The Village, it's easy to catch free buses that can take one just about any place around town; along Main Street, Old Mammoth Road to the Snow Creek complex, and to Eagle, Canyon and Main Lodges. It is truly possible to drive into Hidden Valley Village, park the car, and not move it again until it's time for the return drive to your home.
In the wintertime, during most of the ski season, you can simply walk to the Village Gondola to gain access to the mountain via Canyon Lodge. Or, there are several other options for mountain access, including driving or bus routes that access the Little Eagle base lodge (the lowest part of Mammoth Mountain, located at the west end of Meridian Blvd), Canyon Lodge (at the top of Canyon Blvd.), or the Roller Coaster, the Mill, and the Main Lodge parking lots that are located up Minaret Road.
In the summertime, there are numerous activities located all over town, including world-class mountain biking up on Mammoth Mountain and two golf courses located just around the corner (one 18-hole and one 9-hole). There are also miles and miles of road biking, and many more miles of hiking, not to mention several nearby lakes for fishing or just lounging around. Check the local schedules as there are numerous concerts, festivals, and other outdoor gatherings all summer long.
